COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The objective of the Value Analysis (VA) course is to improve the professional’s skills to develop a routine value improvement method guideline to improve the value for the intended project objectives. This Value improving method provides tools for defining and satisfying the requirements of the user’s/owner’s project requirements. A multidisciplinary team approach is most useful in determining the best value for alternatives to improve value for optimum value improvement to be considered by management and stakeholders.
This guideline will help the professionals to develop alternatives that meet the project’s required functions while making full considerations for additional life cycle cost savings for each alternative.

INTEGRATION OF THE TECHNIQUE
VA is performed during the planning, design, and construction phases of a project’s sequence. The most effective application of VA is early in the design phase of a project. Changes or redirection in the design can be accommodated without extensive redesign at this point, thereby saving the user/owner time and money.
The Value Methodology uses a systematic Job Plan (see below). The Job Plan outlines specific steps to effectively analyze a product, process, project, program, system, technique or service in order to develop the value improvement methods to achieve the required functions. Adherence to the Job Plan will better assure maximum benefits while offering greater flexibility.

SUMMARY
In conclusion, these courses will help the requesting agency or organization integrate the Value Improvement tools to become more effective in competing in today’s marketplace. The value improvement process takes shape by following the SAVE International recommended job plan, consisting of Information, Function Analysis, Creative, Evaluation, Development, and Presentation/Reporting.
The main benefit from conducting value analysis studies on a program/project/product/process/system/or technique is that the managers of value improvement programs gain a valuable tool, with value analysis, to manage the value objectives for which they have control and are expected to produce. This course will strengthen the managers’ goals to produce the best product, with the greatest amount of value improvement in the time frame allowed and within or under budget according to the customer’s expectations. Value Analysis is only one effective tool to help the manager meet and exceed the project goals. Side benefits from conducting the study are numerous including better team relations, better project identification and understanding of the customer’s goals as well as more improved group dynamics and cohesiveness focused on managing value objectives.
